Day 3 - Hard Work never Hurt Anyone

We began the day with a morning devotional about maturing as Christians. We talked about faith and why and how people lose faith. We discussed the strong faith of Abraham, Noah, Jesus, and the disciples. We talked about the foundation of our faith being Jesus Christ, and not a weaker foundation of events that happen or our emotions. In that way we can stay strong in our faith, even when going through tough times. God remains good all the time. The scripture focus was Hebrews 12:1-3.

We then headed over to work at the Faith Food Factory warehouse of the Golden Harvest Food Bank. We spent several hours sorting and cleaning donated food items for use by the various local agencies that do food supply to the needy. For more information about this organization, and how you can help, check out www.goldenharvest.org. We met some girls from the youth academic center of Fort Gordon, a military based high school. After working together, we sang some songs for them and then they sang some songs for us. We all joined together for Lean on Me.

Then it was time to load the bus for our trip to the next stop in North Carolina. Nora and Laney did a little tour of Augusta to get the back air conditioner working again and this trip was more tolerable than the trip to Augusta from Forsyth. Before leaving Augusta, we had a fast food lunch downtown. We drove to Pembroke, North Carolina; location of Odum Baptist Children's Home. We set up in the gymnasium and performed the show for these children. We then had a short meet and greet session. They could not stay long since they are in there last week of school and had to go to bed. We then ate a KFC picnic at the children's home and packed up for the drive to Saint Pauls, our hotel stay for the night.

We finished the day with our evening devotional from Jody. He spoke from the old testament book of 1 Chronicles. We talked about David's song of thanksgiving - especially how it applies to us today as we remember the blessings we have received, continue to always give thanks, and at all times look for ways to share the love of God.
