Day 4 - Fun in the Sand and Surf

We began the day with a morning devotional from Jody as Sandy and Allen took off early to pick up Megan and Sarah from the Mercer Choir Tour. He talked about the passage from 1 Corinthians 12 describing the unity and diversity in One Body. "The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ." The youth were challenged to think about the gifts they have received and to consider how they would use them this week. Following the morning devotional, it was time to get back on the road. We headed north on I-95 to Virginia. After a quick stop for a fast food lunch, we headed east to spend the afternoon at Virginia Beach. Everyone had a great time playing in the sand and surf.

After this fun time, we gathered for group time. The evening devotional was held on the beach and based on the passage from John 21. Jody spoke of Jesus meeting the disciples near the sea of Galilee after his death and resurrection. Here, Peter is reinstated and encouraged to always love and follow Jesus. He is commanded to "feed the sheep." The instrument of feeding, of course, is the teaching of the Word of God. We are like Peter in that we have fallen short and denied Christ at times; but like Peter we can be reinstated and are encouraged to continue to build the kingdom of God with the sharing of his word.

Following the evening devotional, we headed inland to Williamsburg. We had a late dinner as no one wanted to part from the beach in a quick manner. We arrived at the hotel late and agreed to sleep in a little later in the morning. Most had no problem sleeping on this night.
