Day 7- Kinston, North Carolina

We began the day with the Happy Birthday song as we celebrated Kimberly's 14th birthday. We then had our morning devotional based on Daniel 4. We talked about being embarrassed. Sometimes it is difficult to keep from doing or saying something that embarrasses us. Proverbs 13 tells us that "He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin." King Nebuchadnezzar began to brag of all the things that he had done and was therefore embarrassed by God. He had to live for several years as an animal of the field. (He was driven away from people and ate grass like cattle. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird.) He was restored once he saw the error of his ways and began to praise God. We are reminded that we are created for His glory and should not take credit for the talents and abilities that God has given to us. Sometimes we may never know the reason that things happen to us. Job never learned why he had to suffer. It helps to be reminded that God is in control and allows negative things to occur for a reason. Eventually we may find out, but always, we should trust God who sees the big picture. He has a purpose and plan for every person.

Following the morning devotional, we packed up and began the journey south from our time in Virginia. We stopped for lunch in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. Then we headed on to Kinston, North Carolina and the Kennedy Baptist Children's Home. We were greeted by Ken and Gail who had travelled to North Carolina with Mrs. Connie for the evening show. We set up and then performed for the residents of this home. Afterwards we had a meet and greet session. Following the time with these children and youth, we had a picnic at the pavilion on the Children's Home property. It was a great unwinding to the day and most were glad not to eat another fast food meal. We then travelled to Goldsboro, North Carolina for an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Express.

Maturity occurs when we start caring more for others than we do for ourselves.
