Ken and Gail Stephens

Getting to Know You!

Hello, my name is Ken Stephens. On June 27th, Gail and I will worship God with you for the very first time. For us this will be an exhilarating day. We are so excited to be a part of your church family and we eagerly anticipate many worship experiences with you.

We look forward to knowing each of you and your families. We want to know of your hopes and dreams. We want to be with you when you celebrate. We will be with you when sadness is present in your life. We know you will be with us when joy and sadness comes our way. Together, we will be a church family surrounding each other with grace, kindness, mercy and gentle Christian love.

We want you to know us and be part of our lives. Gail and I were married December 28, 1970 at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church in Forest Park, Ga. We have two children, Casey and Justin. Our daughter, Casey was born November 1, 1972 and was married May 18, 2002. Her husband's name is also Casey. Our son, Justin, was born December 11, 1981 and has just graduated from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia (He has plans to get married June 18th of 2005).

I attended Andrew Jr. College in Cuthbert, Georgia from 1968 until 1970. Then I earned a BS degree in Social Work from Georgia State University in 1972. In 1975 I graduated from Candler School of Theology at Emory University with a Masters in Divinity.

We have served several churches in the North Georgia Annual Conference: Level Creek UMC in Suwanee, GA (1972-1975), Rockland UMC in Lithonia, GA (1975-1983), St. Timothy UMC in Stone Mountain, GA as the Associate Pastor (1983-1988), Loganville UMC in Loganville, GA (1988-1992), Bethel UMC in Hiram, GA (1992-1995), and Midway UMC in Douglasville, GA (1995-2004).

Our church family has always been our primary focus. We enjoy every aspect of being part of the Christian family as well as spending time with you and your family to get to know one another better. We also treasure time spent with our own family. One event that is very meaningful for us is the chance to go down to St. Simons Island every year for vacation and Pastor's school.

We are so excited to be here at Forsyth and be a part of your church family. We are looking forward to getting to know you all!

In Christ,
Ken Stephens
